The National carrier, Uganda Airlines has announced fares to different destinations they are flying to in the region. The announcement was made this morning during a meeting with travel agents in Kampala to forge a working relationship as they plan to launch flights later this month.
The Airline which takes to the sky on August 30th, will use the travel agents under their umbrella body Tugata for bookings among other services. The team from Uganda Airlines led by Ms Jenifer Bamuturaki the Director Commercial, Del Nyanzi the Marketing manager and Moses Kisembo the South Sudan country director engaged the agents at a breakfast meeting.
While the Airline has been tight lipped about the travel fares, these were announced at the meeting that is being held at Golden Tulip hotel in Kampala.
One of the agents that attended the meeting but spoke to us on condition of anonymity, says the Airline announced a three months promotion that will see customers fly to Nairobi at only USD 278 for return ticket and only USD 257 for one way.
Juba will be USD 225 for a return ticket while those traveling one way will pay USD 201. Other destinations are Mogadishu where a return ticket costs USD 590 and USD 448 for one way, Dar es Salaam USD 286 return and USD 289. Bujumbura USD 292 return ticket and USD 255 one way ticket. Mombasa is USD 325 return ticket, while Kilimanjaro will be 311 return ticket and 290 one way.
The agent also told us that the airline will launch with a flight to Nairobi on August 27th which will be filled with politicians, travel agents and members of the media. It will then begin commercial flights the next day, August 28th.
Travel agents appreciated the involvement in this meeting, explaining that their customers have been asking about all this information but they did not have answers. The Airline is slated to meet the media tomorrow to announce the fares and the same info.
