The Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced that the tariff for gorilla tracking in Mgahinga and Bwindi National Parks will be raised from US $600 to $700 with effect from 1st July 2019.
Tariff increases for park entrance and activity fees will be published soon.
In a related development, UWA Senior Managers are currently in Jinja for their quarterly meeting. Key issues concerning the New conservation fees and Tariffs, Human Wildlife Conflict and forth coming strategic Plan will be discussed.
They will also review the performance of the Authority last Financial Year and come up with strategies to improve performance in this Financial Year.
Highlights for tourism noted include visitor number increase by 10% from 303,000 to 344,000. Gorilla permits sales increase from 30,000 to 43,000 with peak season sales over 100% with an average of 73% throughout the year. Murchison Falls National Park recorded the largest number of visitors 104,000 followed by Queen Elizabeth National Park with over 84,000.
