Emirates makes further changes to its Skywards policies amid COVID-19

mirates has announced further changes to its airline loyalty programme, Emirates Skwards, to allow grounded travellers to continue to earn Tier Miles.

Going forward, members can earn 25% bonus Tier Miles, not just Skywards Miles on everyday purchases online and at stores across the UAE for the first time ever. Members gain one bonus Tier Mile for every four Skywards Miles they earn until 31 July 2020 and have the opportunity to earn up to 25,000 Tier Miles.

Normally, Tier Miles are linked to the amount of miles flown, but allowing their 27+ million members to accrue Tier Miles through online spends will allow Emirates Skywards members to move to the new tier quicker as well as enjoying more travel benefits when travellers can take to the skies again.

To earn Tier Miles, Skywards members need to use their Emirates Skywards co-branded credit cards, through fashion e-tailer Namshi or by using the Skywards Everyday app to make in-store purchases at participating retailers across the UAE.

Members will also continue to earn Skywards Miles through their spends.

Additionally from May 1, Silver, Gold and Platinum Emirates Skywards members with a tier review date prior to April 1, 2021 can retain their current status for a further 12 months, provided they meet 70% of the usual travel criteria.

As was previously announced, Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members, who are unable to retain their existing tier during status reviews that fall between March and September 2020, will have their status automatically extended until 31 December 2020.Members who have Skywards Miles expiring soon can also relax in the knowledge that the loyalty programme has extended their validity until 31 December 2020. Skywards Miles can be redeemed up to 11 months in advance across an extensive range of rewards, including flight tickets on Emirates and partner airlines, flight upgrades, hotel stays, and experiences.
